ACB sleuths arrest FPS dealer for accepting bribe in Kulgam

SRINAGAR, Jul 9: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested a Fair Price shop dealer for demanding and accepting bribe in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district.
J&K ACB on Tuesday said that it received a complaint against Fair Price Shop Dealer Pati Bongam identified as Ajaz Ahmad Malik, a resident of Khuri Batpora Kulgam, for demanding bribe for release of Ration and for doing KYC.
The complainant had alleged that the dealer of the Fair Price Shop was denying and depriving the complainant the monthly ration on the pretext of submitting KYC.
The complainant had many times approached the dealer, but he used dilly dallying tactics and in lieu demanded Rs 7500 as bribe.
The complainant arranged Rs 4000 and approached ACB for taking necessary action against the Fair Price Shop dealer.
On receipt of the complaint, a Case FIR No. 03/2024 u/s 7 of P/C Act was registered at ACB Police Station Anantnag and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted by the Bureau, which laid a successful trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 4000 from the complainant.
The bribe amount was also recovered from his possession in the presence of the independent witnesses.
Further investigation into the case is going on, a ACB statement said.
