BJP supporting independent candidates in J&K Assembly election: Omar

Srinagar, Sep 4: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for supporting independent candidates to form the next government with their support in Jammu & Kashmir.
Omar was reacting to the reports that jailed cleric Sarjan Ahmad Wagay, also known as Sarjan Barkati, filing his nomination from central Kashmir's Ganderbal Assembly constituency as an Independent against him. Barkati's papers were earlier rejected by the Returning officer from Zainapora in south Kashmir's Shopian district.
"BJP is trying their best that more and more Independent candidates get elected from the Kashmir valley so that they support them to form government", the NC Vice President told media persons after submitting his nomination papers from Ganderbal constituency today. He said "I hope that voters will not allow it to happen and when the result is declared neither the BJP nor their intrigues will be success". The former Chief Minister said that the people of Ganderal had elected him thrice.
Addressing a rally at Ganderbal, Omar removed his headgear and appealed to voters with 'folded hands' to elect him from Ganderbal.
"…My dignity is in your hands and save it…give me just one chance to serve you and represent you from the Ganderbal seat", the NC Vice President asked.
Besides Omar, those who filed their nomination included NC's Ali Mohammad Sagar from Khanyar, Salman Sagar from Hazratbal, Tanveer Sadiq from Zadibal, Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari from Chanapora and Ashraf Mir from LalChowk, BJP candidate Engineer Aijaz Ahmad from Lal Chowk, PDP candidate AisiaNaqash from Hazratbal, Khursheed Alam from Idgah and Sheikh Imran as Independent from Khanyar Constituency.
