JAMMU, May 15: In a significant inter-action with the members of the Nowshera Bar Association, Mr. AK Sawhney, a distinguished advocate and former President of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBAJ), emphasized the urgent need for improved judicial infrastructure and accessibility in the region.
Mr. Sawhney, who also serves as the President of the Jammu Newspapers Editors Guild, joined forces with the Nowshera Bar Association to advocate for the establishment of an additional Sessions Judge bench in Rajouri, with a proposed three-day sitting arrangement in Nowshera. This move aims to mirror the successful model already implemented in Mendhar tehsil and R.S. Pura, ensuring equitable access to justice for residents of Nowshera and surrounding areas.
During the meeting, Mr. Sawhney highlighted the critical importance of upgrading judicial infrastructure to facilitate the efficient functioning of courts. He stressed that adequate facilities, including well-equipped courtrooms, administrative support, and modern amenities, are essential to uphold the rule of law and deliver timely justice.
"The judiciary is the cornerstone of our democracy, and it is imperative that every citizen, regardless of their location, has access to a robust and efficient judicial system," Mr. Sawhney remarked. "By establishing an additional Sessions Judge bench in Nowshera and enhancing infrastructure, we can ensure that justice is not only served but is also accessible to all."
The Nowshera Bar Association members echoed Mr. Sawhney's sentiments, noting that the current lack of adequate judicial resources has led to delays and hardships for litigants. They called upon the concerned authorities to take immediate action to address these issues, emphasizing that such measures would not only benefit the legal fraternity but also serve the broader public interest.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution to formally submit these demands to the relevant government and judicial authorities. The Nowshera Bar Association expressed gratitude to Mr. Sawhney for his unwavering support and commitment to the betterment of the judicial system in the region.
This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening the judicial framework in Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring that justice remains accessible, efficient, and equitable for all citizens.
