A Grim Reminder

30/05/2025
The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 innocent lives were brutally taken, is not merely an attack on India. It is an attack on the very soul of humanity, on the centuries-old spirit of brotherhood, coexistence, and the shared joys of a diverse land. The bloodshed of tourists-visitors who came seeking peace and beauty-was a calculated attempt to inject fear, hatred, and division into a land known for its warmth, culture, and hospitality. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi rightly said, tourism is not just a leisure activity-it is a celebration of India's diversity, an embrace of cultures and communities from across the world. To target tourists is to strike at the heart of this celebration. It is an assault on what India stands for: inclusiveness, harmony, and unity in diversity.
The Prime Minister's strong words and decisive action through Operation Sindoor send a clear message-not just to the perpetrators of terror but to their state sponsors as well. Terror and dialogue cannot go hand in hand. A country that shelters those who orchestrate such barbarity cannot expect the world's sympathy or legitimacy. Pakistan's duplicity stands exposed-its constant rhetoric of peace falls apart in the face of its continued complicity in cross-border terrorism. India's response has been swift and strong. By demolishing terrorist hubs and neutralizing strategic enemy installations, India has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protect its people and uphold its sovereignty. More importantly, it has demonstrated that no act of terror can fracture our unity. If anything, incidents like Pahalgam only strengthen our national resolve.
The people of India, including those in the Border States like Jammu and Kashmir, have shown exemplary courage and solidarity. The unity displayed across religious, linguistic, and regional lines in the wake of this attack is a powerful rebuke to the divisive intentions of terrorists. As we mourn the innocent lives lost in Pahalgam, we must also reaffirm our commitment to national unity, communal harmony, and relentless resistance to terrorism. We owe it to those who lost their lives to ensure that fear does not triumph, and hatred does not divide. Let this be a turning point where every Indian, across every region, pledges to rise above fear and hatred, and stand together-as one people, with one voice, for one nation.
