Modi Government at 11-Resilient, Reinvented, and Raring Ahead

09/06/2025

As the Modi government completes 11 years in office and marks the first anniversary of its historic third term, it does so with a striking sense of political security and strategic momentum. Far from appearing fatigued or vulnerable after over a decade in power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government project the image of a regime that continues to learn, adapt, and consolidate-both politically and administratively. Despite the electoral shocks in the recent LokSabha polls that dented the BJP's parliamentary dominance, the ruling party quickly regained its footing, demonstrating a remarkable capacity for course correction. The swift recalibration of outreach strategies and a renewed focus on regional dynamics have already yielded results-most notably in the comeback victories in Haryana and Maharashtra, and the symbolic conquest of Delhi after 26 years. These successes reaffirm the BJP's grassroots resilience and ability to tap into a potent blend of welfare delivery and social engineering.
Crucially, the spectre of instability many in the opposition had hoped would emerge due to the NDA's dependency on key allies-Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and Nitish Kumar's JD(U)-has not materialised. On the contrary, these regional stalwarts have become enthusiastic collaborators, often going the extra mile to publicly reinforce Modi's leadership. Their conduct has offered the Prime Minister a comfortable cushion of political stability, enabling him to move forward with confidence. Meanwhile, the Congress and the wider INDIA bloc, which briefly basked in the glow of revived relevance, have stumbled in sustaining a cohesive counter-narrative. Internal contradictions, lack of clear leadership, and an over-reliance on anti-Modi rhetoric have once again stalled their forward march.
As the Modi government enters its 12th year, its biggest challenge may no longer be electoral but existential-how to keep innovating, delivering, and inspiring in an increasingly impatient and aspirational India. The expectations from this government remain high, not just in terms of welfare and development but also in defending democratic institutions, fostering inclusivity, and ensuring that India's global stature is matched by internal harmony. Eleven years in, the Modi government is not just surviving-it is evolving. And in Indian politics, that may be the rarest and most consequential achievement of all.
