Srinagar, Jul 1: Six months after registering a case over alleged irregularities in the 2020 recruitment for the Fire & Em-ergency Services (F&ES) Department, the Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today said the probe was now focused on identifying wrongly selected candidates & tracing the money trail linked to the scam.
In a statement, the ACB said that following a complaint, it had conducted a preliminary verification through Police Station Central ACB J&K, which revealed irregularities in the selection process and wrongful appointments. Based on the findings, a formal was registered on January 1, 2025.
The Bureau noted that several serious allegations require in-depth and time-consuming investigation. One of the key challenges is the identification of ineligible candidates who were allegedly selected through unfair means, and the analysis of their bank transactions to establish a clear money trail.
The other investigation is to identify the touts, middleman through whom the money of the wrongly selected candidates was routed and study of the bank transaction history of such touts to identify the forward money trail, so that the culprits at the highest level can be identified. The ACB said the recruitment process under question was a huge process where around 700 candidates have been selected and as such large volumes of records are to be scrutinised properly to identify the wrongly selected candidates and the other culprits and the modus-operandi used.
"All these processes are tedious and time consuming and are to be meticulously taken," the ACB said.
"However, the ACB J&K is vigorously working on it and are committed to deliver justice by identifying all the irregularities in the said recruitment process and complete the investigation in the instant case at an earliest," the statement said.
