Court grants seven days police remand of Patwari in trap case

Jammu, Jul 1: Addi-tional Sessions Judge Anti-corruption Kathua Parv-een Pandoh granted seven days police remand of Liaquat Ali, Patwari, Patwar Halqa Thuthay Chak Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua, who was caught red handed by the ACB while accepting Rs 30,000 as bribe money.
Today accused namely Liaqual Ali S/O Ghulam Mohd. R/O Kishanpur Dungara Tchsil Blllawar District Katluia. presently posted as Patwari Patwar Halqa Sanyal with additional charge of Halqa Thuthay Chafe has been produced before the court in custody by Dy. SP Sureenjeet Singh of Police station ACB Jammu, for grant of 12 days Police remand.
Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Kathua Parveen Pandoh after perusal of the application for remand, medical report of the accused and case diary, observed that as per C.D.file, the accused has been arrested on 30.06.2025 and investigation of the case is in progress and offence allegedly committed by the accused is heinous in nature. Hence, the accused is remanded to police custody for a period of 07 days.
It is worth while to mention here that Anti-Corruption Bureau received a complaint alleging therein that public servant namely Liaquat Ali, Patwari, Patwar Halqa Thuthay Chak Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua, demanded illegal gratification from the complainant for attestation of mutation.
The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant for entering the name of his wife in the mutation register. After negotiation, the accused has agreed to take bribe amount of Rs 70,000 from the complainant in two installments.
