Crime Branch presents chargesheet against fraudsters

Jammu, Jul 4: Jammu Crime Branch today presented charge-sheet against two notorious fraudsters for duping the complainant on pretext of providing job by posing as employees of the High Court.
He also provided a fake appointment order falsely claimed to be issued from the office of the Registrar General of the High Court. Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Benam Tosh said that the charge sheet has been filed in the Passenger Tax Court Jammu against two notorious fraudsters, namely Meharaj-ud-din of WaniMohalla, Pattan District, Baramulla, and Abdul Majid Khan of Kareeri, Pattan, District, Baramulla.
The case was registered at Police Station Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu on the written complaint of one Tawseef Ahmad Dar of Pulwama, Kashmir, who alleged therein that the accused duped him of huge hard-earned money on the false promise of arranging a job in the High Court and provided a fake appointment order purported to be of Registrar General High Court.
Accused Meharaj-ud-din Wani posed as an employee of the High Court and also showed a fake employee's identity card.
During the course of the in-depth investigation conducted by Inspector Meenu Sharma under the supervision of SSP Benam Tosh, it transpired that the appointment order and cheater's identity card were fake and no such order and identity card were issued by any High Court authority.
The offence of cheating and forgery was proved against the duo, he said, adding that both the accused turned out to be notorious fraudsters, as one more case was registered against them at Police Station Kareeri, district Baramula, which was proved and challaned in the court of law.
