Kashmir University removes HoD after Enquiry Panel findings

SRINAGAR, Aug 18: Kashmir University has removed an Associate Professor from the headship of his department following the recommendations of an enquiry committee constituted to probe some complaints.
According to an order issued by the Joint Registrar (Teaching Wing) on August 14, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Associate Professor, Department of Bioresources, has been relieved from the charge of Head of the Department “with immediate effect.”
The order further stated that Dr. Riyaz ul Rehman, Assistant Professor, shall function as Coordinator of the Department of Bioresources until further directions.
University officials said the enquiry committee, formed to look into complaints against Dr. Mir, recommended his removal after examining the matter in detail.
A senior KU official said that the decision was taken in the best interest of the department and students, adding that the charge has been handed over to the next senior faculty member.
