Jammu, Sep 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken stringent action against an alleged notorious drug peddler, booking him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and lodging him in Udhampur District Jail.
According to police spokesman, ChiragAttri, a resident of ChakJaralan in Jammu's Bishnah tehsil, was formally detained under the PIT-NDPS Act following orders from the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
Attri, who has multiple cases registered against him under the NDPS Act, was found involved in supplying drugs to the local youth, thereby promoting drug trafficking in the area. Despite being detained earlier in 2024 under the PIT NDPS Act, Attri resumed his illicit activities after his release from jail and was recently arrested in another NDPS case.
The police stated that despite his involvement in multiple FIRs, he continued to indulge in drug trafficking, which led to the recommendation of a dossier against him under the PIT NDPS Act. The Divisional Commiss-ioner, Jammu, issued a warrant under the PIT NDPS Act, and Attri was taken into custody.
The police emphasized their commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs from society, taking tough action against drug peddlers like Attri who have shown no signs of reform.
