Court issues warrant for Hizbul militant in Pakistan

SRINAGAR, Oct 13: The Special Judge under the National Investigation Agency Act, Anantnag, has issued a general non-bailable warrant against a Hizbul Mujahideen militant from South Kashmir who is believed to be operating from Pakistan now.
The warrant was issued by the Court to Zaffar Bhat alias Khursheed a resident of Lewar, Srigufwara, on a request by Anantnag Police.
Bhat, a senior member of the banned outfit Hizbul, is currently operating from Pakistan and has been involved in multiple terror-related cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and other laws, police said.
The court has directed the police to take all necessary measures to secure his presence before it at the earliest.
Anantnag Police said the move is part of their sustained efforts to bring absconding terrorists to justice and reinforce peace and security in the district.
The police have urged the public to share any information regarding Bhat's movement or contacts with the nearest police station or through official helplines, assuring that informants' identities will be kept confidential.
