NEW DELHI, Nov 23: General Officer Comman-ding-in-Chief, Western Command, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Kaliyar said that the large-scale combat readiness exercise ‘Ram Prahar’ has been designed to strengthen India’s response mechanism in the event of any hostile act by the enemy.
Addressing a press conference, Lt Gen Kaliyar said the Army had already caused “significant damage” to the adversary during Operation Sindoor, and preparations under the new exercise were aimed at ensuring a much stronger counter-action if required.
“You all know that we caused significant damage to the enemy in Operation Sindoor. Now we also know that the enemy might attempt something that may require us to respond again. And as our leadership has said if the enemy commits any wrong or dares to do anything, the response will be much stronger than before. This preparation is for that response,” he said.
Earlier, Lt Gen Kaliyar performed a symbolic ritual on the banks of the river Ganga, seeking blessings ahead of the mega military drill. “It is said that before starting any work, the blessings of Mother Ganga are important. We believe her blessings are with us as we prepare for the tasks ahead,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, the Army announced major advances in its ongoing indigenisation programme under the ‘Year of Technology Absorption,’ marking a substantial step toward reducing reliance on imported defence systems. (KNC)
