Police arrest man for spraying chemical on minor girls in Budgam

SRINAGAR, Dec 30: Police in Budgam district on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly harassing minor girls by spraying a chemical substance into their eyes.
The accused was arrested after parents of two victims lodged a complaint at Police Station Chadoora regarding the incident that occurred while the girls were returning home from tuition.
Police said, the two parents said that their minor daughters were attacked by an unknown man while returning from tuition, who sprayed a chemical substance into their eyes.
Accordingly, a case under section 62 and 137 of BNS was registered and investigation was initiated.
"During the course of investigation, CCTV footage and other technical evidence were analysed, leading to the identification of the suspect. Subsequent questioning and searches revealed that Raja Furqan of Gowherpora, Chadoora, had carried out the act by spraying snow spray into the eyes of the victims," police said.
The clothes and shoes worn by the accused at the time of the incident were recovered from his possession. The accused was identified by the victims and arrested in the case, police said.
It has also come to light of the police that the accused had allegedly attempted similar acts in the past but was let off by locals after admonishment, without any formal complaint.
