DGP reviews security scenario & anti-terror operations in Anantnag

Srinagar, Jan 22: Director General of Police, NalinPrabhat on Thursday chaired a comprehensive security review meeting in south Kashmir, to assess the prevailing security situation and review ongoing anti-terror operations in the districts of Anantnag, Kulgam and Police District Awantipora, ahead of Republic Day-2026.
The meeting held in Anantnag was attended by Special DGP (Coordin-ation) S.J.M. Gillani, IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi, DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo and senior officers. A police spokesman said during the meeting, the DGP conducted a detailed review of law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures, and security arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
He stressed the need for heightened alertness, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination, and strong intelligence-based operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free Republic Day celebrations.
Addressing the officers, the DGP issued clear directions to deal firmly and decisively with anti-national elements posing threats to public safety, peace, and tranquility.
He reiterated zero tolerance towards activities inimical to national security and emphasized the importance of sustained and focused operations against such elements. The DGP also urged officers to maintain a people-friendly policing approach, while continuing to work with dedication, professionalism, and commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure a safe and secure environment for the citizens.
