Northern Army commander visits Kishtwar, calls for sustained momentum to ensure peace

JAMMU, Mar 23: Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma on Monday visited Kishtwar, appreciating the troops for their professionalism and urging them to maintain sustained momentum to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) suffered a major blow in Kishtwar district as the Army eliminated seven of its highly trained terrorists in a year-long operation in challenging high-altitude areas, with the last three, including most-wanted commander Saifullah, killed on February 22.
In a post on X, the Northern Command said the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Lt Gen Sharma, visited Kishtwar sector to review operational preparedness and security grid.
He had detailed deliberations with commanders in chain and interaction with troops.
“He appreciated their sustained efforts, professionalism and resolute conduct of operations in challenging terrain and inclement weather conditions exhorting them to maintain the momentum and seamless coordination with sister security agencies to ensure continued peace and stability in the region,” the post said.
