Udhampur constable booked in NDPS case, dismissed from service

JAMMU, Apr 1: A police constable was dismissed from service for his alleged involvement in a narcotics case in Jammu and Kash-mir's Udhampur district on Wednesday, officials said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur dismissed Constable Arjun Sharma from service with immediate effect following a departmental inquiry, they said.
The action was taken in connection with cases registered under the NDPS Act at Rehmbal police station.
According to officials, the constable was apprehended during checking by a police team of police post Tikri, and heroin was recovered from his possession. The inquiry found the misconduct to be grave. After completion of due process, including issuance of a show-cause notice, his reply was found unsatisfactory, they said.
Accordingly, the SSP exercised powers under rule 359 of the Jammu and Kashmir police rules to dismiss him from service, they said. District Police Udhampur reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards drug-related offences and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public trust.
