JAMMU, Apr 15: Jammu Police, in a breakthrough, have cracked the long-time narcotics nexus with Pakistan links with the arrest of the kingpin of the drug mafia.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Joginder Singh, here in a press conference thanked the efforts of the Special Investigative Team (SIT) headed by SP Hqrs. Anna Sinha, comprising Miran Sahib and Bishnah police, who worked to uncover the long-standing nexus on the arrest of wanted criminal Lau Gujjar and associates.
SSP Singh said that he (Gulzar Ahmed alias Lau Gujjar, a kingpin Gangster and Drug Lord) was wanted in 27 FIRs in Jammu alone and around 100 FIRs across the country under various aliases.
He ran an interstate drug nexus across J&K, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, and the drugs were apparently sourced through drone droppings via his contacts in Pakistan, said the SSP.
He added that the kingpin gangster, wanted for Murder, extortion, and narcotic crimes, was apprehended by Miran Sahib police on April 4, 2026, post which the SIT was formed to uncover the entire nexus.
"So far, several arrests have been made, raids conducted in the houses of associates, and around 20 people have been called for questioning. Further investigation is on in the matter," he added.
The SSP, highlighting the broader approach under the "100 Days Sankalp" initiative, flagged by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated that alongside strict enforcement, efforts are being made to rehabilitate drug addicts by sending them to de-addiction and rehabilitation centres.
He urged the public to cooperate with police and act as a "360-degree eye" against crime and drug-related activities by sharing timely information.
He assured that strict action will continue against all those involved in illegal activities, reaffirming the commitment of Jammu Police to ensure a safe, secure, and drug-free society.
