BJP rapidly losing political ground in Jammu: Gupta

JAMMU, Jun 3: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is rapidly losing its political ground in Jammu due to its failure to fulfil promises made to the people and address key public concerns.
Speaking after inaugurating a public langar at Janipur Colony, Jammu, Gupta said the BJP had failed to tackle issues such as unemployment, inflation, deteriorating infrastructure, shortage of essential services and the continued delay in restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
He alleged that instead of addressing public grievances, BJP leaders were attempting to divert attention towards what he termed as non-issues.
Gupta said people in Jammu were aware of what he described as the BJP's non-performance over the past several years and claimed that local party leaders were finding it increasingly difficult to justify their record before the electorate.
"The repeated attempts to shift political discourse away from issues affecting common people reflect growing public dissatisfaction and the party's disconnect with the ground reality," he said.
The NC leader alleged that the BJP's policies had disappointed various sections of society, including youth, farmers, traders, employees and weaker sections. He said people had expected development, employment opportunities, economic growth and restoration of democratic rights but were instead facing economic and social challenges.
Gupta claimed that public discontent was visible across Jammu province and asserted that voters were seeking accountability from the ruling party.
He said attempts to create distractions and raise irrelevant controversies would not conceal what he described as governance failures and unfulfilled commitments.
Reiterating the National Conference's stand, Gupta said the party remained committed to safeguarding the interests of the people, strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring inclusive development and social justice.
Among those present on the occasion were Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, SC Cell Chairman Vijay Lochan, YNC Provincial President Tejinder Pal Singh, former JCCB Chairman Mohinder Singh, Central Zone Vice President Rakesh Singh Raka and several other party leaders and workers.
