PTTI Vijaypur conducts mega plantation drive on World Environment Day

JAMMU, Jun 5: The Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Vijaypur, on Friday organised a mega tree plantation drive on the occasion of World Environment Day in compliance with directions issued by the Police Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir.
The plantation drive was conducted within the institute premises and adjoining areas with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and strengthening ecological sustainability.
The programme was inaugurated by Principal PTTI Vijaypur, IPS officer Ranjit Singh Sambyal, who planted the first sapling and underscored the importance of collective efforts towards environmental protection.
Officers, staff members and trainees of the institute participated enthusiastically in the drive, reflecting their commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development.
During the programme, hundreds of saplings of indigenous, medicinal, fruit-bearing and shade-giving tree species were planted across the campus. The initiative was aimed at enhancing green cover, improving environmental health, combating climate change and fostering ecological awareness among police personnel and trainees.
Addressing the participants, Sambyal said environmental conservation is a shared responsibility and such initiatives play an important role in maintaining ecological balance for future generations. He urged all participants to ensure proper care and maintenance of the saplings to maximise their long-term environmental benefits.
The programme also served as a platform to sensitise trainees and staff about sustainable environmental practices and the importance of conserving natural resources.
Participants pledged to actively contribute towards environmental protection and support green initiatives in their professional as well as personal lives.
Among those present on the occasion were DySP (Indoor) Satish Kumar, DySP (Administration /Outdoor) Khushwant Singh, Senior Prosecuting Officer Neha Bhagat, Senior Prosecuting Officer Asif Iqbal, DySP Sonali Kohli and other officers and staff members of the institute.
