Final list of 223 athletes selected for govt jobs released; J&K LG, Sports Minister extend congratulations

Jammu, Jun 10: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Sports Minister Satish Sharma on Wednesday congratulated 223 outstanding sportspersons who were selected for government jobs under the Sports Quota in the union Territory.
The final selection list of 223 athletes was released by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, marking a significant step towards recognizing sporting excellence and providing career opportunities to athletes.
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor in a post on X said, "Heartiest congratulations to 223 outstanding sports persons selected for appointment in Government service under Sports Quota."
"Their achievements, dedication and hard work have brought glory to J&K and the nation. I wish all selected candidates a bright future and continued success," LG Sinha further posted. Sports Minister Satish Sharma also extended his congratulations through social media, describing the selection as recognition of the athletes' talent, discipline and years of hard work. Satish Sharma wrote on X, "Heartiest congratulations to all 223 outstanding sports persons selected under the Sports Quota in Jammu and Kashmir."
"This recognition reflects not only your talent, discipline, and years of dedicated hard work, but also our collective commitment to building a stronger and more vibrant sporting culture in the union Territory - one that opens meaningful pathways for excellence, dignity, and rewarding careers," he wrote. The Minister further expressed, "I extend my sincere gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his invaluable support, encouragement, and vision in making this initiative a reality."
"His commitment to the youth and sporting fraternity of J&K has been instrumental in bringing this recognition to fruition. The Appointment Orders shall be formally handed over by the Chief Minister, marking a significant milestone in the journey of each of these deserving athletes," he stated.
"As we continue to strengthen systems of support for our athletes, our endeavour remains to connect the youth of J&K with wider national and international platforms, so that sporting achievement becomes both an avenue of distinction and a viable professional future," Sharma said. Sharma urged students and young aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir to view sports as a serious avenue for personal growth, opportunity and nation-building.
He further stated, "I also urge our students and young aspirants across J&K to view sports not merely as recreation, but as a serious pursuit of character, opportunity, and nation-building. Let the success of these 223 sportspersons serve as an inspiration to every young talent waiting to make their mark."

Commissioner Secretary, Department of Youth Services and Sports, also congratulated the selected athletes and reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening support systems for sportspersons and connecting them with national and international opportunities.
