IIM Jammu hosts civil servant trainees from North-Eastern, Himalayan states

Jammu, Jul 22: The Indian Institute of Mana-gement (IIM) Jammu on Wednesday hosted a delegation of entry-level civil servants from North-Eastern and Himalayan states and Union Territories as part of a study tour organised by the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBS-NAA), Mussoorie.
The visit was aimed at exposing young civil servants to institutional practices in management education, public policy, governance, innovation and regional development.
The delegation toured various facilities at the IIM Jammu campus, including smart classrooms, Nalanda Library, Manthan Senate Hall, Mandapam Auditorium and the Centre for Innovation, Skill Development and Entrep-reneurship (CISDE).
An interactive session with the visiting officers was presided over by IIM Jammu Director Prof. B.S. Sahay and attended by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research; Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics; Briga-dier (Retd.) Bhupinder Singh Kang, Chief Administrative Officer; and Dr. Sandeep Anant-hnarayan, Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Inno-vation and Transfo-rmation in Governance (CITaG), among others.
Addressing the officer trainees, Prof. Sahay stressed the importance of a spirit of selfless service in public administration and urged them to remain closely connected with the people they serve.
He said empathy, integrity and accountability should remain central to public service and called upon young administrators to become catalysts for inclusive and sustainable development.
Referring to India's progress in infrastructure, digital transformation and governance, Prof. Sahay encouraged the officers to contribute meaningfully to the country's development.
He also highlighted IIM Jammu's role in Mission YUVA, an initiative of the Jammu and Kashmir government aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and livelihood generation.
Prof. Sahay said the Mission aims to facilitate the establishment of more than 1.37 lakh enterprises and generate over 4.25 lakh employment opportunities across Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, Prof. Jabir Ali gave an overview of IIM Jammu's growth since its establishment in 2016 and highlighted the institute's initiatives in public policy, governance, research, innovation and capacity building.
He said sustainable transformation required meaningful collaboration among academia, government, industry and society.
