IIM Jammu launches MDP on administrative excellence for higher education institutions

JAMMU, Jul 29: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu on Tuesday inaugurated a three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on "Administrative Excellence in Practice: A Hands-on Program for Modern HEIs" to strengthen administrative competencies and promote best governance practices in higher education institutions.
The programme, being held from July 29 to 31 at the Vedanta MDP Centre, is attended by 40 senior administrative professionals from government and private higher education institutions across the country. The inaugural session was presided over by IIM Jammu Director Prof. B.S. Sahay and attended by Dean (Faculty & Research) Prof. Jabir Ali, Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy (EE&C) Prof. Prashant Mishra, and Programme Directors Arup Bhattacharya and Pardeep Saini.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Sahay highlighted the importance of continuous learning, integrity and a service-oriented approach in administration. He urged participants to uphold the spirit of public service and contribute to institutional and national development through efficient and ethical administration.
Prof. Jabir Ali underscored the role of effective administrative leadership in enhancing institutional quality and organisational excellence. He encouraged participants to exchange best practices and use the programme as a platform for collaborative learning and professional development.
Prof. Prashant Mishra highlighted IIM Jammu's growing focus on executive education and said such programmes help bridge the gap between academic excellence and professional practice while strengthening institutional capabilities.
Welcoming the participants, Programme Director Arup Bhattacharya outlined the programme's practice-oriented approach, focusing on the use of digital tools, data analytics, artificial intelligence and dashboards to improve administrative efficiency and decision-making in higher education institutions.
