Govt sanctions Rs 10.95 crore for restoration of Ziyarat Sharief Khiram, Shiv Mandir in Anantnag

SRINAGAR, Aug 3: The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved projects worth Rs 10.95 crore for the restoration, renovation and upgradation of Ziyarat Sharief Khiram and Shiv Mandir, Thajiwara in Anantnag district as part of its heritage conservation initiative.
An official spokesperson said Rs 5.03 crore has been sanctioned for the restoration and renovation of Ziyarat Sharief Khiram, while Rs 5.92 crore has been approved for the repair and renovation of Shiv Mandir, Thajiwara, Bijbehara.
The projects are aimed at preserving the sanctity, heritage and architectural character of the two revered religious sites while upgrading essential infrastructure to improve facilities for devotees and visitors.
The spokesperson said the approvals are part of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah-led government's ongoing efforts to conserve religious and heritage sites across Jammu and Kashmir through focused investment in restoration, preservation and infrastructure development.
The government said the initiative seeks to safeguard the region's rich spiritual, cultural and historical heritage while ensuring that future generations continue to benefit from these sites.
It also highlighted other recently approved heritage conservation projects, including the restoration of Purmandal in Samba, conservation and upgradation of Imambara Zadibal in Srinagar, development of Khoo Sahib at Yarwan in Pulwama, and restoration of Jamia Masjid Sharief in Shopian and Sarvadhar Chaumanda Mata Mandir in Ramban.
