Small batch of 1,056 Amarnath pilgrims leaves Jammu base camp

JAMMU, Aug 3: A small batch of 1,056 Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here on Monday.
According to officials, the batch departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas for the Baltal base camp in a fleet of 46 vehicles under elaborate security arrangements.
No convoy was dispatched via the Pahalgam route, they said.
The annual pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
So far, more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine.
