IIM Jammu inaugurates second batch of Operational Management Programme under DGR

JAMMU, Aug 10: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu inaugurated the second batch of its ten-week Operational Management Programme under the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence, at its Jagti campus on Monday.
The programme, being conducted from August 10 to October 30, 2026, has 45 participants and is aimed at equipping Armed Forces personnel with contemporary management skills and industry-oriented knowledge to support their transition into second careers. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Lt Gen (Dr) Sunil Kant (Retd), Programme Dire-ctor; Lt Col Angad Behl, SM, Joint Director, Resettlement Directorate North; Prof Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu; Dr Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Programme Director, IIM Jammu; and Dr Yashoda Devi, Programme Director, IIM Jammu.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the inaugural lamp, followed by felicitation of dignitaries and introductions by participating Armed Forces personnel.
Lt Col Angad Behl highlighted the experience of the previous batch and urged participants to make effective use of the opportunities provided through the DGR initiative. He emphasised the importance of continuous skill development to meet the requirements of the competitive civilian professional environment and suggested incorporating CV development into the programme.
Lt Gen (Dr) Sunil Kant (Retd) encouraged participants to remain adaptive, flexible and open to opportunities across sectors and regions. He described the programme as an important stepping stone towards second careers and stressed the significance of discipline, teamwork, trust and continuous upskilling. Prof Prashant Mishra described IIM Jammu's association with the Armed Forces and DGR as an honour and privilege. Recalling his association with the Indian Army, he encouraged participants to embrace the principle of "unlearning before learning" and assured them of the Institute's continued support. Dr Rashmi Ranjan Parida gave an overview of the ten-week programme and highlighted its multidisciplinary approach covering various areas of management. He encouraged participants to actively engage in classroom discussions, ask questions and share their professional experiences to facilitate two-way and peer learning.
The programme is being coordinated by the Executive Education and Consultancy (EE&C), IIM Jammu, and seeks to bridge the gap between the leadership and operational experience acquired during military service and the skills required in civilian organisations.
