DPS Jammu hosts inter-house Punjabi quiz competition

Jammu, Aug 22: Delhi Public School Jammu organised an Inter-House Punjabi Quiz Competition on August 20, celebrating Punjabi language, literature, culture and traditions.
The programme began with a Shabad Kirtan presented by students, followed by a Fun Riddles round conducted by Jashandeep Singh of Class VIII-D.
A presentation titled "Tour of Punjab" by Bhavjal Kaur of Class VIII-B highlighted the state's culture, heritage, traditions, cuisine and historical landmarks.
The quiz, conducted by Bhavjal Kaur and Anahad Kaur, tested students' knowledge of Punjabi language and literature, history, culture and general awareness. Students from five houses participated and displayed confidence, quick thinking and knowledge.
Yamuna House secured the first position, followed by Chenab House and Jhelum House in the second and third positions, respectively.
Principal Ruchi Chabra emphasised the importance of preserving one's native language as a link to culture, identity and self-expression. She encouraged students to cherish their mother tongue while learning other languages.
Vice-Principal Meenu Gupta, in her address in Punjabi, encouraged students to take pride in the language and appreciate India's diverse cultural traditions.
