Omar-led govt giving priority to youth empowerment: Gupta

Jammu, Aug 31: Jam-mu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, on Monday said the Omar Abdullah-led government was giving top priority to the empowerment and welfare of youth and making efforts to address their concerns, particularly unemployment.
Gupta was addressing a gathering organised on the occasion of the opening of the Youth National Conference (YNC) office at Gandhi Nagar here by YNC Provincial President Jammu Tejinder Pal Singh Aman and his team.
He said youth were the backbone of the nation and their aspirations, concerns and future could not be ignored. Creating adequate employment opportunities, strengthening skill development, promoting entrepreneurship and providing a conducive environment for young people should remain among the foremost priorities of the government, he said.
Gupta said the Omar-led government was committed to creating new avenues for employment and self-employment and ensuring that youth in J&K got opportunities to build a secure and dignified future.
He said the government had already launched Mission YUVA for the development and welfare of youth.
The NC leader called for a focused approach to tackle unemployment and harness the energy, talent and potential of the younger generation for the overall development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Empowered youth mean a stronger Jammu and Kashmir and a stronger nation. The aspirations of our youth must be fulfilled through concrete policies, employment opportunities and inclusive development," Gupta said.
