PM SHRI KV Kathua wins 37th Youth Parliament Competition

Jammu, Sept 1: PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Kathua secured the first position in the 37th Youth Parliament Competition organised at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Regional Office Jammu.
Eight teams from different Kendriya Vidyalayas of the Jammu region participated in the two-day competition, which concluded on Tuesday.
On the second day, participants presented parliamentary proceedings, democratic processes and contemporary issues before the jury and audience. Deputy Commis-sioner, KVS Regional Office Jammu, Harshit Mishra attended the programme and encouraged the participants. Addressing the students, Mishra described them as the foundation of the nation and urged them to imbibe democratic values and become responsible citizens.
Assistant Commiss-ioner, KVS Regional Office Jammu, Islam Khan welcomed the Deputy Commissioner, while Amit Walter, Principal, Ken-driya Vidyalaya No. 2, Akhnoor, also greeted him.
Mishra appreciated the performances of the participating teams and extended his best wishes to the students, teachers and organisers.
The jury comprised MLA Vikram Randhawa, Assistant Commissioner Islam Khan, Amit Walter, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Akhnoor, and Bhushan Kumar, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Akhnoor.
The competition provided students an opportunity to understand parliamentary procedures, democratic functioning, freedom of expression and responsible citizenship, besides showcasing their leadership skills and awareness of contemporary issues.
