PSPS Government College for Women organises digital health and TB awareness programme

JAMMU, Sep 2: PSPS Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, in collaboration with 8 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, organised a health awareness and community outreach programme focusing on ABHA registration, Vay Vandana Scheme (VVS) card generation and Tuberculosis (TB) awareness.
The programme was coordinated by Lt Prof Rukhsana Kousar under the guidance of Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour as part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). It aimed to create awareness among students and encourage them to become responsible health ambassadors in their families and communities.
Dr Bindu, Medical Officer, delivered an awareness lecture on TB, covering its causes, symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention, early diagnosis and the importance of timely treatment. Students were also encouraged to spread awareness and help reduce the stigma associated with the disease.
Following the lecture, students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers took the TB Awareness Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to promoting awareness, encouraging timely diagnosis and treatment and contributing towards a TB-free society.
The programme also included demonstrations and hands-on guidance on ABHA ID creation and Vay Vandana Scheme card generation and KYC. Rahul Raina from the CMO Office, Jammu, provided the guidance.
Students were encouraged to act as Digital Health Volunteers and assist their families, neighbours and community members in accessing digital healthcare services.
NCC cadets of 8 J&K Girls Battalion, NSS volunteers of NSS Unit 1 and Naval cadets of 1 J&K Naval Unit actively participated in the programme, adding a community-service dimension to the initiative. The programme concluded with a collective commitment to promoting health awareness, supporting senior citizens, spreading the message of TB prevention and contributing towards a healthier and more aware society.
