PTTI Vijaypur conducts lecture, practical training on disaster management

VIJAYPUR, Sep 7: The Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Vijaypur, on Monday organised a special lecture and practical training programme on disaster management for police trainees to enhance their preparedness, response capabilities and rescue skills during natural and man-made disasters.
Principal PTTI Vijaypur, Ranjit Singh Sambyal, IPS, inaugurated the session in the presence of trainees and staff.
Deputy Commandant, 13 NDRF Samba, Sunil Dutt Prasad, along with his team, conducted the session as resource persons.
They delivered a detailed lecture on various types of disasters, including glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), cloudburst floods, earthquakes, fires, landslides, road accidents and other emergency situations.
The resource persons stressed the importance of advance preparedness, prompt response, coordinated rescue operations and adherence to established safety protocols while dealing with disasters.
Following the lecture, NDRF experts conducted a hands-on practical training session for the trainees. Live demonstrations and practical exercises on emergency response techniques, including CPR, MFR and CSSR, besides other rescue procedures, were conducted.
Around 700 personnel, including officers, instructors and BRTC trainees of PTTI Vijaypur, attended the programme.
The practical training provided participants with exposure to modern rescue techniques and enhanced their confidence in handling disaster and emergency situations.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Ranjit Singh Sambyal appreciated the NDRF team for conducting the informative and practical session.
He emphasised that disaster response was an essential component of modern policing and stressed the need for continuous training, technological awareness and practical skill development among police personnel.
He said police personnel were often among the first responders during disasters, making it imperative for them to possess the requisite knowledge, discipline and rescue skills to save lives, minimise damage and provide immediate assistance to affected communities.
