Nandkishwar Temple Trust seeks renovation of historic shrine

Jammu, Sep 19: A delegation of the Nandkishwar Temple Trust, Sumbal in Bandipora district, called on Jammu North MLA Sham Lal Sharma and sought his intervention for comprehensive renovation and restoration of the historic shrine.
The delegation was led by BJP State Executive Member and State Co-Convenor, Department of Trainings, Chetan Wanchoo, and included Mandal President Pyare Lal, Nandkishwar Temple Trust President Ashok Kumar Sumbly and other members of the Trust.
The delegation apprised Sharma of the condition of the temple and highlighted the need for urgent repairs and restoration of the shrine to ensure its safety, upkeep and preservation.
The members said various structural components, including walls, flooring, ceiling, doors and other essential parts of the temple, require repairs. They called for a detailed technical assessment by the concerned authorities, followed by comprehensive restoration works.
The delegation emphasised that the Nandkishwar Temple is not only a place of worship but also carries religious, cultural and heritage significance. It urged the authorities to take appropriate measures to preserve the historic character of the shrine.
The delegation requested Sharma to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and facilitate necessary assessment and restoration measures.
Sham Lal Sharma gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured the members of his support and necessary intervention in taking up the matter with the concerned authorities.
He stressed the importance of preserving places of religious, cultural and heritage significance and ensuring that historic shrines receive appropriate attention.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the MLA for hearing their concerns and assuring support for the preservation and restoration of the Nandkishwar Temple.
