SUV falls into river in Kupwara, five killed

SRINAGAR, Sep 28: Five people were killed and six others were injured after an SUV plunged into the Kishanganga river in Kupwara district on Monday, officials said.
The accident took place on Seemari road in Teetwal area of the north Kashmir district. A rescue operation was launched immediately, they said.
People who sustained injuries when the passenger vehicle fell into the river have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives.
"Deeply pained by the loss of lives in an unfortunate road accident in Kupwara. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the early recovery of the injured. I have directed the district administration to ensure best possible treatment to the injured," Sinha said in a post on X.
"The chief minister expressed deep grief over the tragic road accident in Karnah-Tangdhar, Kupwara, in which five persons lost their lives and several others were injured," the CM's office said in a post on X.
Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah directed the administration and medical authorities to extend the best possible treatment to all those injured.
