Government to ensure adequate, reliable water supply to Alambal Mirgund under JJM: Javed Rana

SRINAGAR, Sep 29: Government today informed the Legislative Assembly that adequate and reliable water supply on a long-term and sustainable basis will be provided to village Alambal, in the Mirgund area of Pattan Constituency, through augmentation and retrofitting of WSS Perihaspora under the Jal Jeevan Mission, at an estimated cost of ?19.1 crore.
This was stated by Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, while replying to a Calling Attention Notice moved by MLA, Javaid Riyaz Bedar, regarding scarcity of potable drinking water in village Alambal.
Giving the status of the scheme, the Minister said that the WSS under JJM is 60 per cent complete.
He added that, following the extension of JJM up to December 2028, efforts are underway to secure the requisite funds from the Centre and the UT Government, with the scheme expected to be completed within the extended timeline.
The Minister further said that the distribution network laid under CDF for commissioning of the scheme needs to be connected with the supply main of the Augme-ntation and Retrofitting of WSS Perihaspora. However, the proposed connection has faced objections from locals of Mirgund.
He said the matter has been taken up with the local administration, and efforts are underway to resolve the issue amicably.
The Minister also said that village Alambal presently gets water supply from WSS Narbal of PHE Division, Budgam.
