Govt orders transfer, postings of 100 police officers

JAMMU, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has ordered the transfer and posting of 100 police officers, including IPS and JKPS officers, with immediate effect, as part of an administrative reshuffle.
The orders were issued through Government Order No. 499-Home of 2026, dated October 9, 2026, in the interest of administration.
Among the key changes, Danesh Rana, IPS, has been posted as Managing Director of the J&K Police Housing Corporation, relieving S.J.M. Gillani of the additional charge. Garib Dass, IPS, has been posted as ADG Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF against an available vacancy, while Abdul Jabbar, IPS, has been posted as Inspector General of Armed Police, Jammu.
Dr. Mohd. Haseeb Mughal, IPS, has been appointed Director of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, replacing Garib Dass. Shahid Mehraj Rather, IPS, has been posted as Inspector General of Technical Services, J&K, while continuing to hold the additional charge of Director, Police Telecommunications, until further orders.
Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS, has been transferred as DIG CID Headquarters, J&K, from DIG CID Kashmir. Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, has been posted as DIG Railways in place of Zahid Naseem Manhas, who has been assigned as DIG Armed Police, Jammu.
Swarn Singh Kotwal, IPS, has been posted as DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, replacing Shiv Kumar Sharma, while Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, IPS, has been appointed Commandant of the 23rd JKAP IR Battalion from SSP Traffic City, Srinagar.
Other key changes include the posting of Mohd Yaseen Kichloo, IPS, as Principal of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Training Centre (STC), Talwara; Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, IPS, as Commandant of the 18th JKAP IR Battalion; and Sudhanshu Dhama, IPS, as SSP Kupwara.
Bisma Qazi, IPS, has been posted as SSP Traffic City, Srinagar, while Vishnu Kumar, IPS, has been assigned as SSP Tech CID Headquarters, J&K. Vaibhav Meena, IPS, has been posted as SSP Poonch, and Neha Jain, IPS, as SSP Sopore. Anna Sinha, IPS, has been posted as SSP Ramban, while Harshal Rajesh Mahajan, IPS, has been assigned as SSP Ganderbal.
The order also assigns Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, IPS, as Commandant of the 3rd JKAP Security Battalion; Deepak Yadav, IPS, as SP Operations, JK4C; Anand Kumar Mishra, IPS, as SSP Anti-Narcotics Task Force, J&K; and Satish Kumar, IPS, as SSP Railways, Jammu.
Among other IPS officers, Kamal Pal Singh Malhotra has been posted as SSP Administration Wing, JK4C; Arshi Aadil as Commandant of the 1st JKAP Women Battalion; Tikam Singh Verma as Commandant of the 16th JKAP IR Battalion; K.M. Priyanka as SSP Traffic National Highway; and M.S. Zahir as AIG Welfare, Police Headquarters.
The order further provides for the posting of Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, JKPS, as Director, CTC Lethpora; Shailender Singh, JKPS, as Director, Civil Defence and SDRF, Kashmir; Shoket Hussain, JKPS, as AIG Welfare, Police Headquarters; Wasim Qadri, JKPS, as SSP Security, Kashmir; Rohit Baskotra, JKPS, as AIG Personnel, Police Headquarters; Arun Gupta, JKPS, as SSP Security Service CID Headquarters; Tahir Saleem Khan, JKPS, as SSP Bandipora; and Mohd Yousuf, JKPS, as SSP Railways, Kashmir.
